The Maritime Exchanges Gallery offers an opportunity to reevaluate the history and meaning of the maritime exchanges conducted by the Koreans of the past. The gallery is mainly divided into three sections: The Opening of Sea Routes and Maritime Exchange, Dreaming of Trade and Traces of Maritime Activities.
In this gallery, original parts and models of the Wandoshipwreck and Dalidoshipwreck are on display, and the Sibidongpado shipwreck excavation site is vividly recreated. Also presented are wooden tags, items used on board ship, and various types of ceramics discovered in the West and South Seas of Korea. Furthermore, the records on the battle of MyeongnyangduringtheJapaneseinvasion(1592-1598)ofJoseon and on drifting ships and castaways during the Joseon dynasty show the traces of war and the story of dynamic adventures to a wider world.
