This is a 57.5-centimeter-long sososeungjachongtong gun made of bronze. Excavated with its intact form, the gun has its all parts (barrel, chamber, holder). A powder hole is located at the back of the chamber. On the back of the holder, a total of 23 Chinese characters (萬曆戊子 三月日左營 造小勝字 重三斤五兩 匠尹德永) are carved. These characters are translated as “This is a sososeungja chongtong gun made at the base of Jeollajwasuyeong (the Jeolla Province Left Naval District) Fortress Fortress in March of Muja Year (1588). The weight is three geuns (c.f. one geun weighs approx. 600 g) and five nyangs (c.f. one nyang weighs approx. 37.5 g). It was made by the master craftsman Yoon Deok-young,” displaying the production date, manufacturer, and weight of the gun.
