This is a ritual ewer (Kundika) made at the Longquan Kiln (龍泉窯), located in Zhejiang Province, China, as one of the 12,000 or more Longquan celadon vessels found on the Sinan Shipwreck. The Longquan Kiln had been the main celadon-producing site from China’s Song to Qing Dynasty for about 800 years, and enjoyed prosperity as a site of producing porcelains for trade during the Yuan Period. One thing that makes this celadon special is that it shows off elegance with its jade-like texture due to the glaze applied to it several times.
