This is a duck-shaped, celadon lid for an incense burner, with one-third lost. The center of the lid was cut out in a flower shape, and a duck-shaped, hollow decoration was placed on the hole. With the flattened upper part, the lid is bent once at the edge to form a gentle slope to connect to the straight body. Under the duck body, the flippers are embossed. The upper part, except for the duck, is engraved with fine wave patterns. The body is engraved with vine patterns which look like strings. The duck has its mouth open, with its tongue sticking out. The eyes were engraved; the pupils were drawn with black-colored underglaze iron. The duck’s body is fully decorated with fine lines engraved to express feathers and scales. The gray clay is slightly rough due to lots of tiny pores. The glaze evenly covers the lid, including the inside of the duck-shaped decoration. The whole body is greenish blue, while the lid part is greenish. The whole lid is covered with a large amount of tiny cracks. The ceiling inside the lid has a flower-shaped hole. Flowers are engraved around the hole, and leaves are engraved on five spots around the flowers. The ceiling inside the lid shows five trails of firing supported with silica stones.
