Its length is longer compared to its width; the shape is close to a rectangle. With no trace of processing, it is in its natural form. On both the front and rear sides, a Chinese character "車 (chariot)" is clearly written, and peculiarly enough, "○" is written under all the letters on the stone. As the current janggi (Korean chess) pieces are marked with one of the two different fonts to identify their side, the sign might be written to identify the side of the stones. This suggestion can be supported by the stone chess pieces pieces designated as Mado 3-209, found in the same site.
